Please make sure your system meets the minimum system requirements and install latest WCM and WDM Server version listed in the documents to ensure no issue to run both servers on one PC.

7. Does WCM Server support WCM4.1 or lower version player?

Yes, the lower version player can be registered to WCM Server, but some new functions will not be supported if the signage appliance is not upgraded.

8. Can users install other Anti-virus software on the signage appliances or multi-screen appliances?

We will not get involved with users’ own Anti-Virus software because it might vary case by case. However, we suggest our customers to evaluate the following items and consider in advance before deploying Anti-Virus software on the signage appliances or multi-screen appliances:

  • If the Anti-virus software is installed, the software may update database or pop up dialogs periodically and automatically which will not be prohibited or terminated by the signage appliances or multi-screen appliances.
  • All the downloaded media files from server to client will be scanned by the Anti-virus software. If the Anti-virus software will affect signage playback performance, we will suggest to disable the real-time scanning settings.
  • If the Anti-virus software is designed for PC/laptop rather than embedded device, running the software for long time may cause memory leak issue. For this case, we suggest users to re-boot the device regularly to avoid issue. Anti-virus software designed for embedded devices will be more appropriate to use for digital signage applications.

D. Multi-Screen Systems:

1. What is the maximum video v.s. bit rate that can be played smoothly by the SA and synchronized by the MS appliance?

The actual performance will depend on the video codec used, frame rate and especially, bit rate of the video. In general, H.264 codec in mp4 format will be recommended for the MS systems. Refer to the performance benchmark table below based on H.264 MP4 video format:

Model
Multiple Videos (1080P, 30fps) Max Bit Rate
Single Video (1080P, 30fps) Max Bit Rate
Single Video (2160P, 4K, 30fps) Max Bit Rate
